Detailed Explanation of Why Gluten Is Bad
When a person consumes protein, the large intestine is supposed to break down the proteins into amino acids. Once the large intestine plays its roll of breaking down protein, the amino acids travel to the small intestine where they are supposed to get absorbed into the blood stream.
As a result of the large intestine not properly break down gluten into amino acids, gluten enters the small intestine as a non-broken down protein rather than broken down amino acids.
When non-broken down pieces of gluten proteins enter the small intestine, nutrient receptors in the small intestine attempt to absorb the large pieces of non-broken down gluten into the blood stream. Due to the fact that the gluten proteins are not broken down, they are too large for nutrient receptors in the small intestine to properly absorb them.
As a result, gluten damages the nutrient receptors and inner lining of the small intestine when the receptors try pulling the large pieces of gluten in. In this case, the more the small intestine and its nutrient receptors are damaged, the less they are able to feed your blood stream with nutrients.
